Frequently Asked Questions
1. How do I request a librarian-led session?
A. Contact your department's liaison and set up a time. We're currently working on a form which will make this easier. See here for more information.
2. Can I have a librarian offer one of the short (e.g., 15-minute) sessions as part of my regular class period?
A: Definitely. If computers are needed, we could reserve a lab in the library if you like and you could use it for the remainder of the period; or if there is technology in your classroom we could visit your room.
3. I'm at a regional campus. Can I still have a librarian lead a session for my students?
A. Yes! We'll be happy to schedule a session for you via videoconference. See here for more information.
4. Do I or a librarian have to teach just one of these at a time, or can I/a librarian do more?
A. The only limits on what you can do is time, so you or a librarian can do whatever you think is appropriate.
5. Do I have to have a librarian teach these sessions?
A. No! Librarians are always available to teach sessions on these topics to your students if you prefer, but faculty are certainly encouraged to teach these concepts to their students themselves as well. If you'd like assistance planning a lesson or developing assignments and exercises related to these topics, please contact your department's liaison!
6. I want my students to do something that isn't on this list. Is that possible?
A. Absolutely. This list is just a guide, and is by no means comprehensive. Give your liaison a call and we'll be happy to help you by teaching a session or helping you develop one of your own
